The Effect of Horticultural Therapy on ADL of Demented Elders in Korea - A Systematic Review -

Abstract

|
Objectives : This study is executed to test research on the effect of horticultural therapy on ADL of demented elders. We performed systematic review for it.
Methods : From January, 2003 to March, 2014. The systematic review was executed using KISS, RISS, DBpia and National Library of Korea. The key words used for the search were dementia, horticultural therapy, horticultural and ADL.
Results : In aspect of subjects that had participated in each studies, the study with more than twenty subjects was three and the number of subject of all the other studies was less than twenty, which means level of reasonability was not so high. For research design of each thesis, randomized trial was two, non-RCT was one, non-subject design was two and case studies was two. For the aspect of treatment effects, it was confirmed that three studies of the whole seven obtained the significant effects same as the hypothesis of studying. But, the remain four studying didn`t show the significant effects.
Conclusion : According to the result of this study, in future study, there should be constant study on therapeutic effect through investigative examination and have a control group in research design and acquirement of many groups of subject.
